Adopt The Correct Meal Plan To Control Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes is a significant illness in which the body fails to convert blood glucose into energy. A hormone called insulin does this conversion. In diabetics, the body can’t produce insulin or use it correctly to metabolize blood glucose into energy.

There are several symptoms that indicate the presence of diabetes. A few of these symptoms include increase in appetite, dry skin, vision problems, respiratory infections, weakness and fatigue, extreme urination and several others.

Diet helps a lot to regulate diabetes. The main objective of your diabetes diet should be to have acceptable nutrition together with ideal sugar levels in the blood. You should create your diet plan based on your age, sex, physical activity, height, weight and type of diabetes. Your diet should also be changed according to your insulin doses or with oral hypoglycemic drugs. While planning your diet, think over various other complications, for example blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

At the start of your day, you can have warm water and a tumbler of fresh lemon juice. Your breakfast can include fresh fruits, such as oranges, pineapples, guavas and pomegranates. You can also take bread with butter and fresh milk in the breakfast.

Green leafy plants should be a prominent feature for your lunch given their high nutrient value. To retain the health inducing elements of the plants, it’s best to steam them and not cook them by employing unhealthy methods such as deep frying. Some of the vegetables that you can include in your daily diet are celery, brinjal, cabbage, asparagus, spinach and other similar foods. Whole wheat breads are recommended for lunch as well along with curd or milk butter which is known to aid digestion.

A dinner of fresh plants and cottage cheese makes for an ideal diabetes dinner. If you still feel the hunger pangs, drink a pitcher of milk along with a light snack.

Recent investigations have found out that bitter gourd is extremely useful in the treatment of diabetes. It contains a factor known as plant-insulin, which lowers the blood and urine sugar levels. You need to take 2 – 3 tumblers of the sour gourd juice every day in between the meals to effectively manage your diabetes.

you should avoid many food items, including white flour products, whole grains, soya breads, unpolished rice, sugar, sweets, chocolates, pastries, pies, puddings, refined cereals and tinned fruits and veg. In addition, you mustn’t have tea, coffee and cocoa because they can affect the digestive tract. Diabetics should also refrain from alcohol.

Besides eating healthy, you must also opt for healthy cooking practices. Deep frying is a no-no. Go in for healthy cooking methods such as boiling, broiling, baking or saut. Steaming is the best cooking method. If you’re a non vegetarian then choose reduced fat meat. Do not eat red meat as it is rich in fat. Seasonings are also rich in sugar so they have to be avoided. Try to use ketchup, mustard and other dressings to minimum possible.

By sticking to these given guidelines, it shouldn’t be difficult at all to keep a check on your diabetes and manage it effectively.
